Hispanic or Latino population vs total population
Asian population vs total population
To investigate the ethnic data of Washington state, I compared the African American population, Hispanic population and the Asian population of each county to the total population of that specific county. I chose to use a dot density map because it allowed me to compare both populations, the green dots represents the total population of the counties and the orange dots represents the ethnic populations. However, this data has some disadvantages because a dot represents 10,000 people so areas with less than 10,000 people will not be accounted for. It was concluded that the counties with highest populations has the highest levels of diversity, and the areas with smaller population have less diversity.
Out of all the three racial groups that were studied the Hispanic or Latino race is the most dominant in Washington state, they can be found in the counties like Whatcom, Yakima, Franklin, Benton, and Grant; where Asian and African American ethnic groups are not found. The reason why the Hispanic and Latino ethnic group is the most dominant of the three cannot be understood by only analyzing the maps, but with further research of the ethnic groups in Washington State.
